George Clooney Making Money for Obama!

Clooney's Huge Fundraiser

George Clooney's appearance  was expected to be the “single most important fundraising event” outside the United States for Obama’s campaign. He was able to raise over $625K from American donors for the Obama campaign which means that he is helping Obama get reelected. Clooney was raising money by charging $15,000 per person to dine with him, $5,000 for a photo with him, and $1,000 to attend a reception before the dinner. That is amazing! This is not the first time a celebrity does this though. Harvey Weinstein and actress Anne Hathaway co-hosted a fundraiser at Weinstein’s Connecticut estate earlier this month that brought in more than $2 million!

This caught my eye because when I read the title, I couldn't believe how much a celebrities appearance influences something as big as the presidential campaign.  This is important because it involves our nation's president. As a student, this doesn't really impact me much but as a future filmmaker it does because I might have to do these kinds of thing if I ever make it that big. My only question is: What was served at the dinner and was it really worth $15K?

Tony Scott...RIP

Tony Scott's Death

On early Monday morning, the famed director, Tony Scott, jumped off a San Pedro bridge. No one really knows why. The police is currently investigating. A family only memorial will be held this weekend. The family will later announce a public event to recognize all the great work Mr.Scott has done. The announcment will come sometime after Labor Day.

I thought this was important and worth mentioning because Tony Scott was a great director. He really revolutionized all the action film genre. Many new filmmakers like me and others don't realize that they are using many of his ideas. As a student and as a future filmmaker, reading this inspires me to try to become someone great in the industry because I want people to remember me for my films and the work I have done. I think many more people will start buying his movies like "Top Gun", "Unstoppable", "Enemy of the State". I have plenty of questions but this is one that probably everyone is thinking about. What will happen to all the shows and movies he was working on before he died? Will there be a replacement? I doubt it.

LACMA is Hosting an Exhibit For Famed Film Director!

Stanley Kubrick Exhibit

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art will co-present an exhibition of the work of Stanley Kubrick beginning in November. According to Variety.com, "This is a major step in the Academy's plan to create a premier movie museum in Los Angeles…" There have been exhibits of Kubrick before in Germany but this one is much more special because it will be designed by film production designer Patti Podesta. The event will begin November 7 2012 and run through February 2013.

This exhibit is very important because people will now have a chance to get to know a little more about Stanley Kubrick and his amazing films. The exhibition will include archival material, annotated scripts, photography, costumes, cameras and equipment, set models, original promotional materials and props. This article really intrested me because many people know that Kubrick is an amazing director and being able to see some of the behind the scenes stuff will really be exciting for most people including me. As a student, going to this exhibit will be very important because I will be able to learn many things that comes from the mind of Kubrick. I fell like this exhibit will motivate more teens into becoming someone in the film industry.
